Explanation

I saw this on a youtube video and wanted to recreate it using only CSS.

The composition is a selection of multiple backgrounds on the same element. This keeps the DOM very thin.

You can also get quite far creating a sort of 3D effect by just using two dropshadows, one light and one dark. Check out the number.
