I think, love, or whatever it is we call love, is always conditional. This opens up a huge wormhole, but let’s keep it simple.
I think love is always tied to something: be it time, location, reciprocality, simple physical attractiveness and most of all: that the other person is the person you think you know. That could be an idealistic version, but it’s usually enough no to be disillusioned / disappointed by them. No strong break, no murder, no deception, no cheating - the usual.
And that’s it. It’s conditional, even in family (or even MORE in family.)
